Vasilis Efthymiou is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Informatics and Telematics of Harokopio University of Athens (HUA) and an Affiliated Researcher at FORTH. He received his Diploma in computer science in 2010, his master's degree in Information Systems and in Bioinformatics in 2012, and his PhD on the topic of entity resolution in the Web of data in 2017, from the Computer Science Department of University of Crete (UOC). Before joining HUA, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Information Systems Laboratory of FORTH-ICS, a visiting instructor at UOC, and a postdoctoral researcher at the database group of IBM Research in Almaden Research Center, CA, USA. After his PhD research internship at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center, NY, USA, on matching Web tables to Knowledge Graphs (KGs), he has been co-organizing the SemTab challenges at ISWC, an effort to benchmark systems dealing with the tabular data to KG matching problem, and the TaDA workshop at VLDB. He has co-authored two books, more than 60 papers, and co-invented four US patents.
